Desert Moons

Desert Moons, 2013

3 elements, Egyptian marble;

Each about 32cm/ 12" high and about 180cm / 6' in diameter.

These Shield-like shapes recreate an environment that allows the viewer to stroll among them like on a walk in the desert, the ground this stone comes from, the Egyptian desert. In their scale, they won’t allow us to observe them in their entirety once we are up close, we become an element next to them. The surface is a pale sand color with dark orange ripples running through. They encourage our “walk through the desert”, reflecting on being immersed among things made for consideration. They are an invitation to dream.

Vanessa Paschakarnis wishes to recognize the generous support from Arts Nova Scotia for the realization of this group of sculptures.
