Below, 1999. The object manifests an idea in material that reflects on a presence in space, a shared encounter. The work consist of two elements that are carved out of white Italian and red Italian marble. The forms remind of stone-like forms or shells, yet they do not define any of them. You have to face them as man-made objects. The larger form indicates a line that is like a water level - divided by color the objects define a change in substance that submerges the smaller form, as well as the viewer's legs, conceptually tying you to the ground with the pieces.

Red Shields, 1999. Three large-scale floor bound sculptures invade the space like animated creatures. They are based on the form of a shell, a sand-dollar, but their shapes are morphed into things that could be animal or mineral. They re-define your encounter by an experience with form as a thing.
